Online Exhibition #2 Andrea Éva Györi

The exhibition presents ON THE RIDE 1–9, an exclusive and limited edition of nine unique drawings by the promising artist Andrea Éva Györi. The works, made with pencil and watercolor on paper, are adapted from the artist’s earlier series NUDE STUDY—a body of drawings that emerged from a 12-hour performance at Kunsthalle Baden-Baden in 2014, during which she watched pornographic films. Accompanying ON THE RIDE 1–9, the exhibition features three excerpts from her lecture performance NUDE STUDY LECTURE, which took place at the Seoul Museum of Art in 2015. In this context, she invited Korean couples to explore sexual practices, while her drawings NUDE STUDY CAPITAL 2 – SEOUL function as a kind of user guide to the female orgasm. The explanations and instructions can also be applied to the edition presented here, showing how sexual energy, movement, and the loss of control influence the body. Andrea Éva Györi’s work focuses on themes of sexuality, physicality, and self-perception, aiming to engage and instruct its audience—art, in this sense, carries its own lessons.
