We are pleased to announce representation of Mia Boysen

Mia Boysen was born in Johannesburg, South Africa in 1985 where she studied at The Wits School of the Arts before she completed her postgraduate studies at the Academy of Media Arts in Cologne in 2013. Her photographic work reflects her interest in displays and presentation by questioning a constructed reality on the one side and the truth on the other. In her former oeuvre the artist deals with the debate surrounding the representation of objects while removing the objects itself to give their displays the leading role. The recipient can find those artificial settings who remind of staged still lifes also in her „Rostock Ritz“ series from 2016 showing the history of Namibia and its diamond rush. However the construction of pictures is here accompanied by the intuitive process of finding the motives and let them develop freely. The „Salt Display“ series stands for this duality as well – stagings, surfaces, shapes and construction on the one hand and, on the other the freedom to use founded situations with or without artistic interventions. More about the artist Current show:Aktuelle Fotografie Made im Rheinland Next Generations at Museum Morsbroich Leverkusen (27.1. – 5.5.2019)http://www.museum-morsbroich.de Upcoming show:Photography in space, Galerie Mirko Mayer, Cologne (11.4. – 29.6.2019)http://mirkomayer.com/startseite
